Agentic Commerce Readiness

Agentic commerce is the shift from people browsing your store to AI agents doing it for them. Shopping assistants inside tools like ChatGPT are starting to browse, compare, and even buy on a user's behalf. When a shopper asks an assistant to "find me a durable rain jacket under $150 and order it," the agent — not the person — visits stores, reads product data, and makes the pick.

Agentic commerce readiness is how prepared your store is to be understood and acted on by those agents. If an agent can't read your catalog or reach your endpoints, it can't recommend you, and it can't buy from you. Being ready is quickly becoming as important as ranking on Google once was.

Why It Matters

For most of the web's history, the customer on the other end was a human reading a page. That assumption is changing. The new customer is often an agent that needs structured, machine-readable information to do its job.

This matters for an e-commerce brand for a few concrete reasons:

Being agent-ready is no longer a nice-to-have. As more purchases route through assistants, the stores agents can use will win the sale.

What UCP Is

The Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) is the emerging standard for exposing your store to AI shopping agents. Think of it as a contract between your store and the agents that visit it: a predictable place to find your catalog, your product details, and the endpoints an agent needs to act.

At a high level, UCP works by publishing a manifest at a well-known location on your site (/.well-known/ucp). That manifest points agents to:

You don't need to understand every field to benefit from it. What matters for a marketer is the outcome: a store that speaks UCP is a store that AI agents can confidently recommend and buy from.

What Genezio Offers

Genezio helps you answer two questions: Is my store ready for agentic commerce? and How do I compare to my competitors?

The core capability is the UCP Readiness Audit. It crawls your store's UCP setup, scores how ready you are, and runs the same check against the competitors you already track in Genezio — so you can see agent-readiness side by side. It also tracks how your readiness changes over time and re-runs automatically after you edit your website, so the picture stays current.

The audit is surfaced as a dedicated UCP page in the dashboard, with a readiness card that summarizes where you stand at a glance.

To get hands-on — how to run the audit, what each check means, and how scoring works — see the UCP Readiness Audit page.
